Corbeau Baja XRS Seat in Black Vinyl and Black Cloth

Do you know what one of the most waited for seats for the truck, Jeep and off road community was?  Yep, that’s right – the Baja XRS seat that is made by Corbeau.  This seat is in all actuality the result of an advertising campaign where Corbeau asked for input on what it would take to make the best suspension seat that has a reclining feature.  When Corbeau started that campaign, they got loads of responses.  Those responses were taken and analyzed until in 2008 the rules of the game when it comes to suspension seats that recline were changed forever with the introduction of the Baja RS.  This seat was one of the very first reclining suspension seats in the world.

Three years after that Corbeau realized that what they had still wasn’t the ultimate in terms of suspension seats that recline and they were not ready to settle.  That is when they came up with the Baja XRS suspension seat. 

Suspension seats are made for off road driving but Corbeau waned those who don’t have any desire to leave the highway to be able to enjoy the comfort of a suspension seat too.  They also wanted to have a seat that satisfied the needs of their off road clients.  The result is the Baja XRS.

The whole point of a suspension seat is to absorb the energy from impacts so that the person sitting in the seat doesn’t absorb that energy with their back and legs.  With suspension seats made by other companies, there is cut foam used in the seats.  The problem with this is that over time the cut foam can and will start to wear and break down.  This leads to more stress on the user’s back and legs.  With the Corbeau Baja XRS seat they use memory foam that has been injection molded.  This type of foam will hold up better for longer than plain old cut foam. Corbeau pairs this memory foam with their unmatched proprietary suspension system to give you the ultimate in suspension seat comfort.

This seat is a direct fit part for all of the Jeep CJ 7s and Jeep YJs.  It is also compatible with most of the Jeep CJ 5s.  Don’t despair if you don’t have one of these vehicles though.  With the addition of the custom made brackets made by Corbeau, this seat will fit in nearly any vehicle. 

The Baja XRS seat comes to you in black cloth and black vinyl and can accommodate people with a waist size of up to 42 inches.

Please Note

If you are putting this seat in the Jeep TJ, expect the reclining mechanism to hit your roll bar while attempting to slide your seat fully back.  This will cause you to lose up to 2 inches of slide.  While most of the time, this doesn’t pose a problem, if you happen to be very tall you might want to take this into consideration.

 

Corbeau Baja JP Seat in Black Vinyl and Black Cloth

The Baja JP seat that is made by Corbeau is a suspension seat that is varied only slightly from their Baja SS seat.  There is actually only one main thing that differs between the two – the Corbeau Baja SS has vertical tabs on the bottom while this one does not have those tabs and is instead flat at the bottom.  Because of it being flat, is can be bolted directly onto a flat surface or even onto Corbeau made brackets without you also having to purchase a Baja adapter.

Additionally, the Baja JP seat that is made by Corbeau is made to be a direct fit part for each Jeep YJ and CJ 7 as well as for most of the CJ 5s.  That being said, the brackets installed by the factory on the CJ have been installed with an angle which means that if you bolt this seat to those brackets, it will be at an angle that is extreme.  It is recommended that you get the custom made CJ brackets if you don’t want your seat to be extremely reclined all of the time.

As far as other vehicles go, the Corbeau made Baja JP will be compatible with most other vehicles as long as you also get and use the Corbeau custom made brackets for installation. 

Corbeau makes all kinds of suspension seats and like all of those, the Baja JP is complete with the Corbeau suspension system that is state of the art.  This particular suspension system has been proven to give you not just cushioning that is unmatched but also to absorb most of the energy from impacts.  In fact, with this seat, it has something of an effect like a trampoline.  It absorbs the energy from impacts that otherwise would go straight into your back.

You can get this seat in all black vinyl and cloth as well as in black vinyl.  The Corbeau Baja JP seat is meant to fit people with a waist size of up to 38 inches while the wider version will accommodate people with who have a waist size of up to 42 inches.  That said, the width of the Wide Baja JP is actually smaller than the regular one.  The Wide in the name simply means that it will fit a larger person.

Corbeau 2 Inch 3 Point Retractable Lap and Harness

The retractable harness belts that are made by Corbeau are unique in a few different ways.  First of all, they are retractable.  If you have ever driven with a harness belt before, you will know that once they are fastened, you will be able to move only a little if at all.  These aren’t like the factory installed seat belts that will allow you a bit of freedom of movement.  However, with this particular harness made by Corbeau, they have included an inertia reel on one end of the third strap.  This is what allows the harness to be able to function as your factory belt would.  This inertia reel allows for freedom of movement as does your factory installed seat belts do but just as with those factory installed seat belts, if there is a jolt or a sudden movement, it will lock up.

The other aspect of this harness that is unique is that it has a double release feature.  This feature is what allows you to be able to unfasten the rear strap simply by pushing a button.  Typical harness belts of the 3 point style have a pair of belts that are meant to go over your shoulders and then through the slots for the harness.  Then they come together in order to form a lone strap that will then be mounted to the rear of the Jeep.  This can make entering and exiting the back seat of the Jeep tricky depending on the mounting location of this particular strap.  With this particular harness the rear strap can be disconnected simply by pushing a button.  This allows for all of the passengers to enter and get settled comfortably before the strap is fastened.

Each of the harnesses made by Corbeau feature lap belts that will bolt straight to the bolt hole locations installed by the factory.  These harness belts have been made with your comfort in mind and as such they have a waist pad that reduces pressure.  You can get these harnesses in red, blue, yellow and black.
